Volunteer With Lake-McHenry Habitat for Humanity
Build something real. Feel the impact immediately. Leave with a story to tell.
When you volunteer with Lake-McHenry Habitat for Humanity, you are not just giving your time. You are helping build safe, affordable homes, strengthening neighborhoods, and creating moments of connection that last far beyond the day’s work.
From active construction sites to our ReStores, every volunteer experience is hands-on, meaningful, and powered by community. Whether you are picking up a hammer, organizing donations, or welcoming shoppers, you are part of something bigger the moment you step in.
No Experience? No Problem.
You do not need construction experience to volunteer with us.
Our staff and skilled site leaders provide guidance every step of the way. We welcome first-time volunteers, seasoned pros, individuals, families, students, and corporate teams. If you are willing to show up, learn, and lend a hand, we will teach you the rest.
Real Work. Real Impact. Real Fun.
Volunteering with Habitat is active, engaging, and deeply rewarding. You will:
-
Work alongside passionate staff, volunteers, and future homeowners
-
See tangible progress by the end of your shift
-
Learn new skills in a supportive, encouraging environment
-
Be part of a team that laughs, problem-solves, and builds together
Every shift moves a family closer to home and helps keep our community strong.
